General Embedded Developer

Design, implement, and maintain embedded software for the non-safety-critical firmware layer - owning the firmware for a Linux-based GSM module that handles telemetry, FOTA, and remote device management.
What you'll do
- Develop and maintain firmware for a Linux/Raspberry Pi-based GSM module covering telemetry forwarding, MQTT communication, and FOTA execution
- Implement remote device provisioning and management integration with Azure IoT Hub
- Maintain software and firmware versioning and inventory tracking on the device side
- Work with the Core Automotive Embedded Developer to ensure data is correctly exposed over CAN and forwarded to the cloud
- Ensure OTA update reliability and fallback behaviour
- Interface with the backend and cloud team on data contracts and MQTT topic structure
Key requirements
- Comfortable working on Linux-based embedded targets (Raspberry Pi-based GSM module)
- Embedded firmware development experience in C or C++
- Experience with GSM/cellular module firmware or communication-focused embedded work
- Familiarity with MQTT - message structures, QoS levels, and broker interaction
- Understanding of OTA firmware update mechanisms and reliability patterns
- Basic CAN bus comprehension for VCU layer data integration
- Azure IoT Hub or equivalent cloud device management experience
Nice to have
- Device provisioning workflows and fleet-scale firmware versioning
- MQTT bridging between an embedded device and a cloud broker
- Telemetry data pipeline understanding
- Automotive embedded systems background
